Housing Clinics
The goal of NID-HCA Atlanta Metro is to consistently bring resources directly to consumers in their communities. Therefore, we offer Housing Clinics and Legal Counseling for Homeowners.
Who We Serve
NID-HCA Atlanta Metro Housing Clinics serve borrowers of owner-occupied 1-4 unit properties with foreclosure prevention, mortgage relief and some mortgage related legal issues. Our Housing Clinics have no income restrictions.
What We Do
NID-HCA Atlanta Metro provides FREE individual, private and confidential meetings with NID-HCA Atlanta Metro Certified Housing Counselors on weekdays and weekends to assist clients who are having difficulty maintaining their monthly mortgage payments.
NID-HCA Atlanta Metro Housing Clinic dates and hours vary depending upon location. Clinics are typically held one weekday evening from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Saturday's from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Please contact your local office for specific clinic dates and hours.
No appointment is necessary. Our goal is to serve as many people as possible by being available to fit into your demanding schedule.
What to Bring
To get the most from your private, confidential meeting your counselor you will need to understand the current status of your mortgage and your financial situation. This will give the counselor all the information necessary to offer you the best plan for reaching your goal and to educate you on all available options. In order to do this, it is necessary to bring in the following information for review. Please bring copies with you as we will need to keep a copy for your file:
- Copy of Driver License
- 1 most recent mortgage statement. 1st and 2nd (if applicable)
- Any correspondence of delinquency from lender and or attorneys (if applicable)
- Warranty or Security Deed
- HUD 1 Settlement Statement 1st & 2nd
- One (1) month paycheck stubs
- Two (2) month recent bank statements
- 2009 Tax Return
- 2009 W2's
- Copy of Homeowners Insurance Policy (if not escrows)
- Copy of current month utility bill
- Hardship Letter
- Divorce Decree (if applicable)
- Permission from Bankruptcy attorney if in Chp.13 or Chp.7 discharge/dismiss.
What to Expect
When you arrive you will be welcomed by NID-HCA Atlanta Metro staff and provided forms to complete. After completing the forms, you will be seen by one of our Certified Counselors in a private setting. We do our best to process and see clients as quickly as possible. However, depending upon the number of clients, you may have to wait a short time for your turn. When you are seen, a Certified Counselor will assist you in avoiding foreclosure and will provide you with the necessary information and resources to navigate the confusing process. We will:
- Provide you with an area to complete your forms
- Assist you in completing your forms
- Answer questions regarding our process for helping you address your mortgage concerns
- Schedule an appointment if housing clinic hours do not accommodate your schedule
- Provide documents for you to complete and return at a future appointment or Housing Clinic

- We will not put you in a "cattle call." There will not be long lines or waiting times. If we are at capacity we will respect your time by scheduling a future appointment for you to come in during non-housing clinic hours.

- We will develop a plan for you and leave you to work with your lender on your own. We understand that the process is complicated and intimidating, so we will work with you and your lender.
- We will not judge you or your situation but will work with you to reach the most feasible plan, with long-term quality of life and a sustainable and affordable mortgage payment being the overall goal.
- We will not charge you a fee for our services.
- You will be in control of your situation. We will be your coach, but you will maintain ownership of your results.
